The bird life in the area is another beautiful sight to be seen, especially on the forest edge. Notable bird species (of the total 500) include Woodpeckers, the African Kingfisher, Grey breasted spurfowl, Kori bustard, Rufous-tailed weaver, Secretary bird and Fischer’s lovebird. Kingfishers are one of the most brilliantly coloured birds, and may have loud voices and a dramatic wooing display whilst the Fischer’s lovebird best known for their beautiful colouring and energetic nature.

• Viewing historical Maasai Paintings (rock paintings)

Maasai rock paintings are seen as ancient and were made using natural materials such as clay and ash.  Some of the rock painting may be between 1500 and 7000 years old.

Interesting facts about the Maasai:

Maasai are best known for their beautiful beadwork.  Young men spend hours and days working on elaborate hairstyles, which are ritually shaved as they pass into the next age group.  Cattle are central to Maasai economy and are rarely killed as they are a sign of wealth.  Traditional grazing lands span from central Kenya into central Tanzania.

Organised upon request and can accommodate 16 people at a time.  The additional charge includes champagne and a unique bush breakfast.

• The Serengeti Cheetah Project

Guests can contribute to the Serengeti Cheetah Project by monitoring the cheetah of this vast national park.  Your guide will introduce you to the cheetah’s habitat and teach you how to identify and photograph the cheetah.  Your contribution to the project could uncover new movement patterns and aid the conservation project.
