Each room offers guests either a king or twin size bed with a private en-suite bathroom. The bathrooms feature flush toilets, a large bath and hot and cold water. The outside features a spacious veranda with stunning views and an outdoor shower - with the focus set on complete privacy.

The Nomad Lamai Serengeti Camp is ideal for a perfect, private and luxury honeymoon, romantic getaways or an affordable yet luxury family safari. Rooms are lit with low energy lighting and charging facilities are available in each room. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available, but cell phone reception is extremely limited in most areas.

Health, Safety and Security

First-aid kits are available in all offices and on all safari vehicles with well trained staff on hand at all times. Emergency doctors and evacuation services are available to all and fire extinguishers are available in all rooms and in the main area. Askari are on duty throughout the night and will escort you to and from your room in the evening.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit the camp is between the months of July through October when the Great migration takes place. Approximately 260,000 zebra, 1.7 million wildebeest and roughly 470,000 gazelle cross the majestic river giving birth to over 500,000 calves within a 2 to 3 week period.

Fascinating facts about the migration:

• The migration may seem like a frenzy but research has shown the wildebeest possess "swarm intelligence" - they systematically explore and overcome as one.
• Zebra and Wildebeest graze in harmony as they eat different parts of the same grass.
• Wildebeest have no natural leader resulting in the herd splitting up into smaller circles.
• There are more than 3,000 lions that follow the migration across the reserve.

Please note: The timing of the migration varies slightly each year depending on rainfall. The camp is closed between 15 March and 31 May yearly during the main rains.

Wildlife

The camp has an amazing variety of wildlife present in its surrounding area. Recently seen wildlife includes Buffalo, Hyena, giraffe, cheetah, wild dog and elephant. The Mara River is also home to the Mara River crocodiles, the biggest crocodiles in Africa.

The bird life in the area is another beautiful sight to be seen, especially on the forest edge. Notable bird species (of the total 500) include Woodpeckers, the African Kingfisher, Grey breasted spurfowl, Kori bustard, Rufous-tailed weaver, Secretary bird and Fischers lovebird.

• The Serengeti National Park eco-system is the oldest on the planet boasting diverse fauna and flora unavailable anywhere else in the world.
• The Masai people have grazed their livestock here for around 200 years.
• All three large cats are homed here: Lion, Cheetah and Leopard.
• More than 90,000 people from around the world visit the park yearly.
• In Masai Language, Serengeti means "endless plain".
• The Serengeti has the largest population of lions in the World - more than 3000 lions live in this ecosystem.
